The journey begins in the direction of Rancho viewpoint, on a cliff overlooking the sea, with excellent views of Câmara de Lobos, the ocean and the cliff of Cabo Girão.  This is a perfect spot to admire the diversity of the natural beauty of the island.

On the road again, up the hill, we won’t waste much time until we start our off-road towards the Trompica forest, where along our way we will be able to sharpen our senses with the intense perfumes (fragrant mimosa and eucalyptus).

After crossing a dense and diverse vegetation (colors and smells), You will enjoy the fantastic panorama of the highest mountains in Madeira and challenge your emotions on the edge of the most extraordinary cliffs.

We will have the feeling of being “in the middle of nowhere”, seeing nothing but Nature, breathing pure air… simply wonderful!!!

So, we will make several stops, for photos and walks in order to absorb so much beauty around us… 

Along our route at the top of the mountain, we can see in the distance the highest peaks of the island, Encumeada, the Serra D`Agua Valley, São Vicente and in the valley the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras surrounded by mountains.

And as weel we will find cattle grazing peacefully in the mountains and even walking along the road.

Before starting our descent, we will make a stop at Fonte dos Burros (Spring of the Donkeys). A small spring placed near a tight curve that shows us an impressive panoramic view to the Serra d’Água valley.

Along our descent we will continue to delight ourselves with fantastic landscapes until we reach the next village, called Fontes.

It will be here, in this picturesque village, that we will make our stop in a very local space for a drink – Coffee, Homemade Poncha, Madeira Wine, Rum or something else (optional).

Very few are those who know São Paulo. Fewer are those who know Fontes. It is in Fontes that you will find the habitational nucleus with the highest altitude in the island.

On the road again, the next stop will be The Espigão Viewpoint “Spike” , located in São Paulo, at the top of Ribeira Brava, offers magnificent views over the green hills, spotted by just a few houses, and the pointed mountains that dominate the valley of Serra de Água, from Encumeada to the village of Ribera Brava.

After that, we will descend until finally reaching the blue sea, where we will be able to contemplate the village of Ribeira Brava from above.

We will continue our route on regional roads towards Funchal, passing through the village of Campanário and Camara de Lobos.

An experience never to be forgotten!!
